bonus day

Today was supposed to be cloudy and rainy so I had little hope for good light. But a foggy sunrise brought good light and snow geese were a great subject (below). Tonight I photographed old pilings on The Great Marsh inside Roosevelt Inlet near Lewes. The clouds opened enough for nice light at sunset.

happy landing

Sunrise was beautiful this morning with a touch of fog in the air making great diffused light. From my spot on the salt marsh I caught these snow geese as they came in for a landing.

turning Dunlin

Moving as one, a flock of Dunlin passes over snow geese resting on the salt marsh at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge this morning. Identifying shorebirds is sometimes difficult and I appreciate the help of folks who much more knowledgeable than me. If you feel that I have incorrectly identified a bird please let me know. Thanks!

flying fish

After more than an inch of pouring rain yesterday, I knew the herons would be hungry this morning and ready catch every fish they could. Sure enough I found one in his regular spot tossing back the minnows.
