vote for your favorite goose photograph

Usually there is a clear winner with photographs. Either the light is just right in one frame or in another there is a great moment captured. Tonight I shot three Canada goose photographs at Winterthur that I like equally well and I would like your help in picking the favorite. Please vote for your favorite here by leaving a comment. I’m looking forward to seeing which photograph wins. Thanks, Kevin

I strongly prefer the regal top picture.

I vote for the bottom picture. I like the framing of the goose between the ground and the clouds.

You’re right…all three are fabulous! I think I like the bottom picture best because it is so different from any other goose picture I’ve ever seen. Wow!

Middle pic, always like how the setting sun defines the tree limbs as well as the geese.

i love them all, but the bottom one has a haunting quality that is amazing.

I like the top one. The two remind me of an old married couple….

I like #2. I like the way the geese and the tree is sillouette’d against the sky.

I prefer photo number 2…it is more of a complete picture of the feeling at just that moment…

They are all great, but #3 captures a special drama.

hmmm… I’m going for number two. You know I like my trees! Although there’s something endearing about #1 and something majestic and free about the third. I really do like them all Kev!

Bottom pic hands down. Because of reasons Tony, Sharon and Becky mentioned.

Just discovered this wonderful website from Cape Gazette. Loved all 3 geese pictures but especially the bottom one - he looks like he’s just getting ready to take off or really feeling his oats. Just great. Kevin, you certainly know your Delaware creatures. Thanks so much for sharing.

The center photo. I like the tree details as compared to just the outlines of thegeese.  The tree also gives a size forcomparison. The geese appear to be walking into the sunset.  Enjoy checking in to see where and what you find to photo.  It also helps with my birding id.Thank You!

I’m most partial to #2…..as I love seeing the relative size of the geese compared to the tree….and I think it’s a more complete picture, too. For some reason, I like the 3rd one the least. That one makes me feel “lonely”. (I know…crazy thing to say but that’s how it makes me feel!!!) Of course, if I’d seen any of the photos by themselves and wasn’t asked to compare them for a favorite, I’d love any of them!!!

I am partial to #2, they are all great which makes it hard to choose.

They’re all superb. #3 is my favorite.

Kevin, you were delightful as usual at breakfast at the c. 1714 Pennsbury Inn, where you stayed while photographing Wild Delaware at Winterthur this week. I notice that some of the other inn guests have also voted. I agree with others above, your framing of the goose, the haunting nature and special drama, but most especially, with all the goose photos that have been taken, this one is simply different. I vote for #3.
Look forward to having you as a guest again soon and I will be checking in to wilddelaware.com often. When will you be doing Wild Pennsylvania???

Tough call between the top one and the bottom one. I like the bottom one because it looks like the goose is challenging a storm cloud. But I’m going to cast my vote for the top one because I like its clean, abstract look and the slightly more vivid colors.

Image #2 really does it for me, although all three images are remarkable. There is a very oriental tone to the entire photo, the tree against the sky is like dendrites in smoky yellow quartz, and there is pleasing balance in the framing of the subject matter. Nice job.

I love them all, but I like #2 for size comparison, composition and plain beautiful photography, as mentioned above. #3 because it caught such a special moment and for its abstract quality.

I’ve changed my vote. Now that I’m not rushed at a hotel computer screen, I’ve decided photo #2 is the most compelling. The trees and light in the clouds add interest. Ideal composition!!

Kevin, All are wonderful. I love the composition of #2. The trees offer a perspective that completes a story.

Ok, I’m definitely going against the trend…but I like #1. It’s not just about the geese — the gold in the sky is warm, the clouds above their heads ethereal, and the blurred grass on the right helps this photo become three dimensional. Visually, there is just so much going on. It’s my favorite.

All three are great, however, the bottom picture! The goose is celetrating being alive!!
