eaglet

A friend told me about a bald eagle nest and tonight I had a chance to find it with him. There were two eaglets who look to be about 70 days old and almost ready to fledge. In another few days these young eagles will leave the nest and learn to fish for themselves. Eaglet update (May 25) The young eagles have fledged and both have successfully flown from the nest. Hopefully both will survive the next few days and learn to master the sky.

Hi Tom, Yes a good friend indeed. I went back for sunrise today and wasn’t able to get anything better because of the vegetation. I’m hoping now for another shot at sunset light.

    Thanks, Kevin

    Kevin,

I really like the top image of the Eagle here. The composition, lighting and eyeball are very much to my liking.

I will keep an eye our for a Regal Eagle by you; particularly one with a boldly and brightly highlighted head and a special glint in the eye, along with nice composition.

I know it can be very difficult to get everything right and have good composition as well, somehow… but you do it daily!

This time is so wonderful in the life of the Eagle here. With the rapidly growing population of Bald Eagles and even the other eagles in this area we are not far from the large populations where congenital birth defects begin to show; like what has happened in the last few years to White Tail Deer and Chincoteague Ponies - due to over population.

I love them all and love to see more and more of them, like everyone else. However, we are probably at the high point in numbers and quality of gene pool… in my barely educated opinion.

I LOVE these pictures and like so many Americans, I find the male Bald Eagle to be a strong favorite — of all wildlife!

Thanks for sharing your striking art!!!!!!
