ready for his close-up
The secret of good wildlife photography is getting close. In fact, you can almost never get too close. But last week things got a little too close. I was photographing this young squirrel on a post when he made a leap for my camera landing right inside my lens shade. Way too close for even a macro lens! My friend Tony Pratt captured the moment as I helped the little guy to a safer perch on top of the camera.

Gee……quite an experience and GREAT shots (thanks to your friend, Tony), but……BE CAREFUL not to get bit as I’m sure I don’t have to remind you they can carry some nasty diseases, Kevin. (And we don’t want our favorite photographer getting sick, ya know?)

Note: I just got a note; Google has indexed this post in all it’s indexes. Not bad… posted about 3:30 and indexed about ten hours later… it often takes ten to twelve months these days for a new site like this!
Do a search on Google for “kevin fleming”"young squirrel ” and this will come right up!
The word is getting out nicely Kevin!

This was outstanding. Even thought there is the stroke of luck taking place, but luck is part of the game too. Having had Tony there and shooting at that moment was great. And great to see the familiar friendly face of Kevin again.
That’s some incredible work you’ve been posting lately. As usual, raising the bar for the rest of us….
Can’t wait to join you in one of your mornings again
