turning Dunlin
Moving as one, a flock of Dunlin passes over snow geese resting on the salt marsh at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge this morning. Identifying shorebirds is sometimes difficult and I appreciate the help of folks who much more knowledgeable than me. If you feel that I have incorrectly identified a bird please let me know. Thanks!

Kevin: This shot is not a flock of Wilson’s Plovers, which would be considered an ultra rarity in Delaware. They are most likely Dunlin from the look of them. Joe Sebastiani

Thanks Joe, I wasn’t sure on this one. But I do have photographs of the backs of the birds and will look at that again.
I appreciate you looking and hope you will keep checking in!
Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,
I am agreeing with Joe, these are Dunlin, very common in Delaware during our winter months.
Good luck with your venture,
Bill
